(VIDEO) Helicopter Fights Mosquitoes Over Hopkins

The Metropolitan Mosquito Control District was over Friday dropping granules or pellets that target mosquito larvae.

It’s that time of year when the thump-thump of helicopter rotors announces the resumption of the war on mosquitoes.

Friday morning, a Metropolitan Mosquito Control District aircraft flew above Hopkins dropping dry granules or pellets in wetlands to prevent larval mosquitoes from becoming biting adults.

The substance contains natural soil bacteria that specifically target mosquito larvae and pose no risk to humans or animals.
