Hopkins High School students made a drum roll as they waited to hear who would be named this year’s homecoming king and queen.

After a suspenseful few moments, Alexandra Hanson, of Plymouth, was named Homecoming queen, and Will Phelps, of Golden Valley, was named Homecoming king.

They were one of five candidates for the honor. The other queen candidates were:

• Madeline Donovan
• Tarina Gartner
• Teschina Prier
• Claire Miller

The other king candidates were:

• Sam Kleist
• Dennis Dadashev
• Chaise Dennis
• Chandler Luhowskyj

Other royalty on the homecoming court are:

Junior Princesses:

• Ali Freie
• Maddy Malat

Junior Princes:

• Jasper Johnson
• Justin Tran

Sophomore Dutchess:

• Mikaela Schultz

Sophomore Duke:

• Nasib Mohamed
