(The following news release comes from Hopkins Public Schools.)

Hopkins High School senior Amy Mathews won second place in the 2012 Third Congressional District High School Art Competition. Mathews also received a Silver Key Award in the Minnesota Scholastic Art Awards competition in the category of drawing.

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. The competition provides an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents.

The competition is open exclusively to high school students currently in grades 9-12 who must be a resident of, or attend high school in, the Third Congressional District.
