The Hopkins Royelles are headed to state following a strong winter season.

The Hopkins High School dance team placed third Saturday in the jazz portion of the Section 2AAA meet. The finish earned them a trip to the Feb. 15 state meet at the Target Center. The Royelles just missed a top-three finish in the kick portion—with Chanhassen edging them out by three points.

That performance follows strong finishes in conference competition. The dancers ended the season second overall in the conference with second place finishes in both the jazz and kick portions of the final conference meet Jan. 17.
