Hopkins High School placed third in the high kick division of the Section 2AAA dance team tournament Saturday at Wayzata to advance to the 2012 Minnesota high school state dance team tournament.
The top three finishers in each 13-team division qualified for the state meet, held Feb. 17 and 18 in the Target Center in Minneapolis.
Wayzata won the jazz division, followed by Maple Grove and Eden Prairie.
Eden Prairie finished first in the high kick competition, followed by Wayzata and Hopkins.
