Hopkins’ Chambers Named Mr. Basketball Finalist
Chambers is one of five people up for the annual award.
Hopkins guard Siyani Chambers has been named a finalist for this year’s Mr. Basketball, 1500 ESPN Twin Cities announced via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.
Minnesota Mr. Basketball recognizes the best high school boys' basketball senior in the state. In addition to Chambers, the radio station also named the following players as finalists:
- Joey King of Eastview
- Sanjay Lumpkin of Benilde-St. Margaret’s
- Johnny Woodard of Duluth East
- Isaiah Zierden of Benilde-St. Margaret’s
Chambers was also named a member of the Star Tribune’s All-Metro first team. The newspaper praised him for being “a leader/coach on the floor, and an excellent defender.”

Super funny that Sanjay Lumpkin and Siyani Chambers are both Mr. Basketball Finalists. In 5th Grade, they were on the same HFL youth football team. Congrats to both. Coach Sarah is proud!
