Dunn Bros Open For Business on Shady Oak Road

The coffee shop is flourishing at its new location.

Dan and Marian LeSage didn’t plan to move their Dunn Bros Coffee franchise from its Minnetonka Boulevard location. , and the building’s landlord had different plans for the site.

Despite the forced move, the shop is prospering as ever before. The LeSages re-opened their coffee shop April 29 in Hopkins—at Suburban Square Center, near the intersection of Mainstreet and Shady Oak Road. Coffee drinkers are already streaming into the new location.

“It’s been great. We feel welcome. We’ve met a lot of new folks,” Dan LeSage said.

That isn’t just a quirk of fate. The LeSages brought their special roaster, retail coffee bean display and entire team with them when they moved. Existing customers who visited the new location found the previous store’s familiar ambience.

Yet the new location also has several advantages. It has twice as much space and a ton of parking. More vehicles pass the Shady Oak Road shop than the Minnetonka Boulevard location.

To this, the LeSages are adding their own improvements. The Dunn Bros team reupholstered chairs, added booths and freshened up the new shop’s inside to take the best advantage of the extra space. The LeSages also added a bit more to the food selection—including items such as breakfast and lunch burritos and grilled sandwiches. Dan LeSage already plans to look at more afternoon-type snacks.

“We’re committed to listening to the customers and fine tuning our offerings,” he said. “We hope to kind of be a community gathering spot.”

The Shady Oak Road location is open from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.
