Several hundred fans, parents and friends attended Tuesday's event.
Several bands converged at Hopkins High School on Tuesday to play for hundreds of fans, parents and friends at the 2011 Junior High/Senior High Band Festival.
The West Junior High School Symphonic Band, the North Junior High School Symphonic Band, the Hopkins High School Wind Ensemble and Hopkins High School's "Lean Mean Performance Machine" at the festival. Selections were from a variety of standards, pop music and soundtracks.
Band Director William Bell emphasized the role being in band can play in a student's development and post-secondary career. Bell noted that the majority of players in the Wind Ensemble are enrolled in either Honors or Advanced Placement classes. He also emphasized that the band curriculum is designed so it does not interfere with a students' academic schedule.
