2012 Raspberry Festival: Events and Activities

Bring out the entire family for family friendly events, games and parades during the 2012 Raspberry Festival.

 

From the Grande Day Parade to the trio of coronations, the Hopkins Raspberry Festival has numerous activities.

Sunday, July 8

Senior Game Day

Bingo games, prizes, chance drawings and a buffet are all included at this event. You can even win some Patch prizes. Tickets cost $6 with Raspberry button.

 

Monday, July 9

Hunt for the Golden Raspberry Clues Debut

A palm-sized medallion has been hidden somewhere in Hopkins. The person who finds it first will receive a $500 cash prize. Starting Monday, clues will be posted each day at Driskill’s and on this website at 8 a.m. It is hidden outdoors on public property, not more than five feet high. Last year’s medallion was found within 30 minutes.

Kiddie Parade

For children only (parents should accompany), individuals or groups of kids can create a theme or costume or both, with with special guest judges deciding the most creative groups or individuals at different age levels. Waiver forms must be signed before parade start. Participants may ride or walk or be pulled.

  • When: 5:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Check-in starts at 5 p.m.
  • Where: Mainstreet; the parade starts in Central Park and finishes in Downtown Park.

 

Tuesday, July 10

Senior Royalty Coronation Dinner and Dance

Enjoy the big band sounds of Dick Macko while dining and dancing the night away.  $15 with a $3 Raspberry Button, includes a light dinner. Reservations required. Call 952-939-1333 to make a reservation.

  • When: Doors open at 6 p.m., light supper served from 6:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., dancing from 7 p.m. to 9:45 p.m., coronation at 8:15 p.m. during intermission.
  • Where: Hopkins Activity Center

 

Wednesday, July 11

Laun E. Anderson Kids Fishing Contest

Enjoy a morning of fishing with this annual lakeside contest.

Junior Royalty Coronation

See 6- to 8-year-olds compete for four positions in the Royal Family.

 

Thursday, July 12

Royalty Coronation and Royal Ball

Young women 17 to 25 will compete for three positions in the Royal Family.

 

Friday, July 13

Sweet Pickins’ Sale

Find the best antiques and vintage items at this giant sale.

Bingo, Food & Pull Tabs

Enjoy bingo and pull tabs in a food tent with special events.

Sweet Pickins’ Sale

Find the best antiques and vintage items at this giant sale.

Memorial Centers Blood Drive

All those who donate will receive a free pint of raspberries.

Masonic Lodge Open House

Families in Central Park Kids Activities

Family friendly activities throughout the day including inflatables rides, pony rides, a dunk tank and balloon animals. Music on the main stage.

MN Disc Dog Frisbee Competition

The Minnesota Disc Dog Club is hosting a competition that is free to spectators and novices. New players are always welcome.

West Suburban Teen Clinic Street Event for Teens

Enjoy tie dye, crafts, music, root beer floats, tours and more. There will even be drawings for prizes.

Fireworks

The Wild Boar is bringing fireworks back to this year’s Raspberry Festival.

Grande Day Parade

As one of Minnesota’s largest parades, the Hopkins Raspberry Festival Grande Day Parade features 100s of participants including floats, politicians, marching bands, schools and organizations from around the Twin Cities. 

  • When: 1 p.m.
  • Where: Mainstreet between Fifth Avenue and 17th Avenue

VFW Pig Roast

A good, old-fashioned pig roast with plenty of other food available.
